WHAT TO EXPECT

Meet & Greet

Upon meeting the patient and their guardian, I begin getting to know the patient in detail. During the session(s) we will be discussing the young person’s strengths and difficulties, reviewing their current mental state, provide some explanations and get an overall picture of their requirements.

Metrics

A record of physical health measurements will be taken. This will include height, weight, blood pressure and pulse.

Report

After the appointment a comprehensive psychiatric report will be sent to both guardian and GP. This report can also be shared with school to ensure valuable educational support.

Treatment Plan

Following this, a treatment plan is formulated. The treatment plan will include strategies for managing their difficulties, guidance on social skills and coping strategies, as well as parental advice to improve function and outcomes. Additionally, it will provide advice to educational staff on how to support the individual. Furthermore, if necessary, it may include referrals for therapy and, if needed, medication.
